
2.4.1 Pre-conditions for Backup/Restore Procedure (Panel i)
To perform Backup and Restore functions, the CNC must be connected to the Panel i over HSSB
optical cable.
For maintaining the CNC system data and for Backup/Restore functions, a small PC application
program ‘NCBOOT32.EXE running on the Panel i or Panel i for Automotive is required. This file is
copied onto System32 folder of Windows NT/2000/XP during the installation of HSSB drivers.
FANUC’s Panel PCs have this HSSB drivers pre-installed.

During boot-up of the Panel i , the NCBOOT32.EXE will start automatically and a small FANUC
servo motor is displayed on the lower right corner of Windows screen:
To start the boot menu, the CNC must be turned off and the rotary switch SW1 on the HSSB board
must be in Position ‘0’ with 160i/180i/210i/Model B standalone controls:
