5 Compensation Function
Compensation function consists of following
functions. Up to 14 tool geometry data can be
stored.
- Tool Length Offsets
- Tool Radius Compensation
5.1 Tool Length Offsets
Tool offsets are used to compensate geometrical
length differences between tools and programmed
imagined tool. Using tool offsets allows to work
with multiple tools without setting workpiece zero
point after each tool change. In order to work with
tool offsets machine must be equipped with a tool
holder allowing a defined tool mounting position.
A positive X or Z offset means that currently used
tool is longer as reference tool.
When working with tool offsets proceed as
follows.
1. Put a label with a number on each tool used
2. Measure X and Z offsets of all tools used
against the same reference position
3. Mount a tool for machining in tool holder and
activate tool on screen
4. Set workpiece zero point. From now on, no
additional zero point setting is necessary up to
changing workpiece
5. Execute machining operation
6. Mount next tool in tool holder and activate
corresponding tool on screen
7. Execute next machining operation
5.2 Tool Radius Compensation
Tool nose radius compensation compensates the
roundness of the tool. By using this function it is
possible to cut radiuses with higher geometrical
accuracy.
Tool nose radius compensation is available only
on cycles with finishing amount.
- Taper Cycles
- Radius Cycles
- Single ISO Block Cycle
