3. GENERAL
In case of the
α
series Servo Amplifier, UL/c-UL mark has been shown on the rating label
of each product. We start putting CUS mark of TUV Rheinland of North America (TUV RNA)
on the rating label of
α
i series Servo Amplifiers and Motors instead of that of UL.
This report intends to inform you of the CUS mark itself and of the start of the new marking.
4. DEMONSTRATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH UL/CSA STANDARDS
Demonstrating Servo Amplifiers and Motors to be in compliance with safety standards
effective in each area, we are to ask third-party testing laboratories to certify our products for
competent regional or international standards for each product, and put the third-partys
certification mark on the label.
The standards for motors and drives required in USA and Canada are as follows.

Note - C22.2 No.14 or No.100 is the CSA standard number.
UL is not the only qualified institute for testing and certifying products under UL
standards and CSA is not the only organization allowed for conducting tests and issuing
certificates for products under CSA standards as well.
TUV RNA is accredited as an NRTL by OSHA as well as other third parties such as ETL
and CSA, and it is admitted to conduct testing and certifying products to comply with UL
standards. On the other hand, TUV RNA is also accredited by SCC as a testing laboratory for
investigating and certifying various products to CSA standards.
TUV RNA is allowed to use the c-TUV-us combination mark (CUS mark: Fig-1) for
indicating products compliance with both UL and CSA standards as well as UL uses its
combination mark of c-UL-us for the same purpose. Each of the two marks demonstrates the
product being in compliance with the both of relevant UL and CSA standards strongly.
5. START OF THE NEW MARKING
We start this new marking on the Amplifiers and AC
Reactors within August 2002, and will expand it to newly
certified products including
α
i series motors.
