4.5 Grooving Cycles
By pressing icon on cycle selection screen,
grooving selection screen opens.
Three grooving cycles are available.
- Outer Grooving
- Inner Grooving
- Face Grooving
To machine a groove, position tool by means of
hand wheels or joystick in X and Z direction to
start point and press start button on machine.
Only X position (Z pos. in face cycle) is taught in.
Grooving cycle is an automatic cycle and will start
at X coordinate where the tool is positioned at the
time when the start button is pressed (Xr). First
the tool moves in rapid in Z direction to start point
Z. Then tool starts cutting into material in X
direction. When bottom of groove (X1) is reached
tool retracts in rapid to initial (Xr) position. Then
tool is moved to new Z position and next cut is
performed. The last cut is executed as a finish cut
to clean surface. Overlapping of cuts is fixed to
20% of tool width. If number of grooves is
programmed multiple grooves shifted by pitch (P)
are machined. At bottom of groove finishing
amount X is left in order to guarantee a smooth
surface for finishing.
