Technical Notice
1. Please set the Doze Timer setting and also Sleep Timer setting of the setup utility just as
Disable.
2. In the case that the IDE Standby Timer setting of the setup utility is set to “10 min”,
when it passes for about 10 minutes without the access to the HDD being carried out, the
HDD becomes standby mode condition and then the turn of the disk is stopped. In
standby mode the access speed of the HDD becomes later even from the access speed in
usual action mode condition. It is because the time when returns in normal action mode
condition from standby mode of the HDD is about 2 seconds.
3. In such situation that the CNC system operates without the HDD being accessed a long
time, the control method that the HDD is suspended has the effect that extends the life
of the HDD.
However, the life of a HDD sometimes becomes short conversely in the case that
application does the access to the HDD in the interval of from 10 minutes to 30 minutes.
This is because the HDD repeats the move of standby mode and normal mode frequently.
FANUC changes Power Management setting of the shipment of MMC-IV to
“IDE Standby Timer = 10 min”.
Please change it on your own responsibility, in the case that it needs to set up
it to “IDE Standby Timer = Disable”.
