1.4.1 Operation
To use “canned cycle machining” press the “CYCLE” soft-key on the
display unit. The cycle machining menu will appear.
This cycle machining menu lists all the canned cycles supported by
MANUAL GUIDE 0
i. The menu is broken up into several pages. The
total number of help pages and the current page appear at the top of
the menu.
The user can use the page keys on the MDI key panel to control the
display of the cycle machining menu pages. The menu screens are of
rollover type. That is, attempting to advance beyond the last page will
return to the first page. Conversely, attempting to go back beyond the
first page will return the user to the last page.
By typing the number of the G-code displayed on the menu and then
pressing the “INPUT” key on the MDI key panel, help information for
a selected canned cycle block will appear.
The canned cycle forms are similar to those that appear on the process
assistance screen. On this screen, the user can input the desired
information for each canned-cycle. When the form is first displayed,
it presents the requested canned cycle. For our example, we’ll enter
the information for the G1000 canned cycle.
If we move the cursor down to the “F=” entry, the screen will prompt
us to enter the drill cycle feedrate. Let’s set this value by entering
“50” and then pressing the “INPUT” key on the MDI key panel. The
feedrate will now be set to “50.00.” We’ll set the following
information in the same way:
W = 1 : MACHINING TYPE (NO DWELL)
C = 5.000 : CLEARANCE
I = 1 : REFERENCE POSITION RETURN (INI-POINT
RETURN)
F = 50.0 : FEEDRATE
P = 50 : DWELL TIME (in msec unit)
As you enter the information, you will notice that the address
corresponding to the data entry in a guidance drawing is blinking.
This allows the user to check their entry as they are entering it on the
screen.
To insert a canned cycle into a part program, press the “ACCEPT”
soft-key on the display unit. You will see the resulting block on the
editor screen “G1000 W1. C10. I1. F50. P50. ;”. You have now
entered a quite complex part program block into your part program
without even knowing how to program a canned cycle.
On the editor screen, pressing the right-end soft-key causes the
“EDIT” soft-key to appear. Pressing this soft-key causes the data
entry screen for the corresponding canned cycle to appear. You can
change the value displayed on this screen by typing in a new value
