1.2 INTRODUCTION
MANUAL GUIDE 0i is just one of the screens available to the user
during CNC operation. It can be accessed at any time by pressing the
“CUSTOM” pushbutton on the MDI panel. From this screen, the user
can select display of the programmer’s help reference.
If the user wishes to create a new program (or edit an existing one),
they can do so in background editing mode; there is no need to select
“EDIT” mode. But, the user must ensure that the part program they
want to edit is not an “active” part program on the CNC. If the part
program is active, a warning screen will appear prompting the user to
correct the problem.
MANUAL GUIDE 0
i utilizes “advanced canned cycles” for milling
operations, such as drilling, drilling pattern, patterned pocket and slot
machining. These “advanced canned cycles” can be called from
existing programs developed with other than MANUAL GUIDE 0
i.
The operation arguments are listed in the on-line programmer’s help
reference.
MANUAL GUIDE 0
i also utilizes “contour programming,” with
which the user can enter contour figures that consist of lines and
circles. This “contour programming” involves high-performance
contour calculating such as 10 blocks pending and auxiliary
calculation with 11 patterns.
MANUAL GUIDE 0
i was developed to make the creation and editing
of part programs easier for the user/operator. Once familiar with the
programming language, however, you may find it easier to develop
programs directly using the CNC program editor. MANUAL GUIDE
0
i allows users to function at their own level. Those who are not
familiar with CNC programming find it easy to use the graphic
interface to enter information into a program. Those that are more
advanced might use the on-board program editor, while referencing
the on-line programmer’s help reference. In any case, the user has the
ability to use MANUAL GUIDE 0
i at a level at which they are
comfortable.
