15.6 Pattern Data Input Function
This function -enables the. user to create CNC programs only by selecting numeric
data (pattern data) from drawings and entering the data through the
CRT/MD&
without
using the conventional CNC language.
For example, the machine tool builder can freely set drilling cycles, such as the boring
cycle and tapping cycle, using the custom macro function, and register them in
.
program memory.

Each of the above cycles is assigned a pattern name such as
BOW,
TAP3, or
DRL2. The operator can select the desired pattern from the pattern name
menu ‘displayed on the CRT.

The drilling cycles must be set in such a way that variables are used for values
(pattern data) that need to be specified by the operator.
The variables can be assigned pattern names such
as DEPTH, ESCAPE,
FEED, and MATERIAL. The operator assigns values
(pattern data) to these
names.

Displaying the pattern menu
Select the custom macro variable screen by pressing the OFFSET/SETTING button,
then press the
MENUNAR
button again. The following pattern menu appears on the
screen.

HOLE PATTERN: A string of up to 12 characters can be specified for a menu title.
BORING: A string of up to 10 characters can be specified for a pattern name.
(Kanji and katakana characters can be used in the character strings.)
The manufacturer programs
the
character strings for the menu titles and pattern
names using the custom macro, and registers them in program memory as a sub-
program with program No. 9500.
