4. When calculating the time required to execute a rapid traverse block, the time incurred by motion along
each axis is obtained from the corresponding parameters for travel distance, rapid traverse rate, and accel-
eration/deceleration. The longest time incurred by such motion is regarded as being the execution time
for the block.
5. The time required to execute a cutting feed block in feed–per–minute mode is obtained from the corre-
sponding parameters for travel distance, feed amount, and acceleration/deceleration time.
6. The time required to execute a cutting feed block in feed–per–rotation mode is obtained from the corre-
sponding parameters for travel distance, feed amount, spindle speed, and acceleration/deceleration time.
7. The time required to execute a dwell block is the dwell time.
8. The average execution times for the miscellaneous function, spindle–speed function, and tool function
must be specified beforehand in separate parameters so that the time required to execute a miscellaneous
function block can be calculated. Desired execution times can be set for three different miscellaneous
functions. If two or more miscellaneous functions are specified in a single block, the longest of the specified
times is regarded as being the time required to execute that block.
NOTE 1 Only the X–axis, Y–axis, and Z–axis are supported.
NOTE 2 If the machining time exceeds 18 hours, the displayed time is reset to 0.
NOTE 3 Parameters 9121 to 9129 relate to the machining time display. For details, see the parameter

1.5.4 Background drawing (optional)
(1) Overview
The background drawing function generates a drawing of a program while machining is being
executed according to another program. This is an optional function of Super CAPi M.
(2) Features
The background drawing function analyzes a program and generates a corresponding drawing, inde-
pendently of NC machining. This function enables a program to be checked, by viewing the generated
drawing, while other machining is being performed. If this optional function is provided, the program
list screen can be displayed, a program can be selected and, of course, the standard drawing function
can be executed on the drawing screen.
(3) Specifications
– Program selection
When background drawing is started, the most–recently edited program is automatically se-
lected. Alternatively, a desired program can be selected by using the program selection function.
If no program is selected for background editing, the program number is set to 0. Because the
number of the program to be drawn is not specified in this case, drawing cannot be started immedi-
ately. Select a program number, then start drawing of that program.
– Tool offset value
Tool offset values for machining and background drawing are provided separately in this system.
When drawing is started or when a program is selected from the drawing screen, the tool offset
value for machining is copied to be used as tool offset value for background drawing. If the G10
command, used to rewrite the offset, is specified during machining or drawing, the rewritten value
does not affect the other offset value.
S Tool offset value setting in list of tools to be used
If an offset value is entered using the tool list screen during background editing, the entered
value is used to modify the tool offset value for background drawing. The tool offset value for
machining remains as is, however, so that machining is not affected. If a program is selected
after that displayed on the drawing screen, the tool offset value for machining is copied as
tool offset value for drawing. The value set using the tool list screen thus does not become
effective.
