Tool offset is used to compensate for the difference when the tool actually
used differs from the imagined tool used in programming (usually,
standard tool).

Tool selection is made by specifying the T code corresponding to the tool
number. Refer to the machine tool builder’s manual for the relationship
between the tool selection number and the tool.
Tool offset number has two meanings.
It is specifies the offset distance corresponding to the number that is
selected to begin the offset function. A tool offset number of 0 indicates
that the offset amount is 0 and the offset is cancelled.
