The reference tool in method 2 is a tool whose tip is positioned to the
origin of the workpiece coordinate system while the machine is
positioned to the machine zero point. Generally, the tool length offset
must be adjusted according to the workpiece. The need to adjust the
tool length offset for a new workpiece can be eliminated by setting the
difference between the origin of the workpiece coordinate system of
the new workpiece and the origin of the workpiece coordinate system
used to measure the tool length offset as the workpiece origin offset of
any of G54 to G59. To define the tool length offset using this method
involves setting the workpiece origin offset as the tool length offset for
each tool.
